SAUDI ARABIA – Equinox Hotels, a fitness-focused hospitality brand and management company, has announced plans to open a modern new resort on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba in northwest Saudi Arabia.
The venture is part of the ambitious US$500 billion Neom giga-project.
The new resort, Equinox Resort Treyam, will be the centerpiece in Magna, Neom’s new luxury coastal region. Magna encompasses 12 destinations along 120km of coastline and is one of five key locations within Neom, a project being developed in Tabuk province that will be nearly the size of Belgium upon completion.
“As a region, Neom embodies the future of luxury hospitality, and we’re thrilled to create an unparalleled resort experience within this visionary destination,” Equinox Hotels CEO Christopher Norton said.
“Our partnership with Neom highlights a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and redefining the boundaries of hospitality.
“Located between The Line and the southernmost point of the Gulf of Aqaba, our resort will serve as the model for transformative luxury, activating the entire destination with experiences that only Equinox Hotels can offer.”
Nestled amid striking landscapes and crystal-clear waters, the resort will feature a futuristic design highlighted by a 450-meter-long bridge-like structure suspended 40 meters above a lagoon.
Focused on high-performance living, it will include spacious accommodation, longevity and technology treatments supporting health and performance, a spa, a signature Equinox Fitness Club, a 450-m pool, a Clubhouse, and culinary concepts.
Rooted in Equinox Hotels’ core values of movement, nutrition, regeneration, and community, programming is being curated to ignite the senses.
The resort aims to bring the brand’s high-performance lifestyle philosophy to a beautiful new location between the mountains and the sea.
Chris Newman, executive director of Neom Hotel Division, added, “Guests will have the opportunity to fully engage with this extraordinary location, where every detail is designed to enhance their well-being, elevate their journey, and support a high-performance lifestyle.”
Neom is driven and primarily funded by the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund.
The region is formed of five areas—Magna, Trojena, Oxagon, The Line, and Sindalah—and is being realized via a phased approach.
Oxagon will receive its first residents in 2024, while the first modules of The Line will be activated in 2026. By 2030, it is anticipated that some one million people will be residents in Neom, rising to nine million in 2045.
Operators already involved with Neom include Accor and Minor Hotels’ Anantara brand.
Magna is Neom’s new luxury coastal region comprising 12 destinations along a 120km coastline along the Gulf of Aqaba.
Each destination – Epicon, Norlana, Siranna, Utamo, Aquellum, Leyja, Zardun, Xaynor, Elanan, Gidori, Jaumur and Treyam – will offer distinctive human experiences.
Magna’s 15 luxury hotels, 1,600 hotel rooms, suites, apartments, and over 2,500 premium residences will have sustainability embedded at every stage and align with Neom’s commitment to conservation and innovation, embodied by 95 percent of the land being set aside for nature.
