USA—Hispanic-focused supermarket chain El Super has announced plans to expand in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, with a new store opening in Bell Gardens, California, on July 17.

The new 41,000-square-foot store will be located at 7102 Eastern Avenue. It will be the company’s third store of the year, following the opening of another store in San Ysidro, California.

El Super also revealed that the store will offer shoppers grocery products from Latin America. It will also feature an in-house bakery that will offer customers a variety of pastries, tortillas, and breads.

The company also revealed the new store will also have a full-service seafood and meat department, which will serve what El Super describes as ‘the best cuts’ of meat, poultry, pork, and fish.

The new store will also have a deli cheese counter stocked with various salsas, hand-prepared ceviches, and agua chiles. It will also feature a quick-service restaurant where customers can enjoy a variety of Latin American-inspired snacks and treats.

The company praised the move, saying it will provide the supermarket chain with a valuable opportunity for growth through favorable pricing and excellent customer service.

El Super’s Senior Regional Director Sal Esquer said, “We can’t wait to open our doors in Bell Gardens and extend a warm welcome to our community.”

“The El Super shopping experience combines great prices with outstanding service, tailored to meet the unique needs of everyone in our vibrant community. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our new store in Bell Gardens!”

The move is part of the supermarket chain’s aggressive expansion into the US, which has been at the heart of the company’s strategy and hopes to result in higher sales volumes thanks to the wide array of products offered.

In April, the company announced the opening of its Reston, North Virginia store, marking its entry into the state. In September 2023, the company announced the opening of its Fresno, California store in what it describes as a ‘prime spot‘.

The supermarket chain has grown from a single store in 1997, when it entered the USA market, to 67 locations.
