UK- A recent report by Metro UK revealed the plans of various US fast food chains to either enter or further expand in the UK market in a move meant to leverage the UK’s QSR potential.
The Metro UK revealed the country’s QSR market is currently experiencing a significant paradigm shift that will affect the market’s entire landscape in the future.
This paradigm shift is mostly due to inflation-led challenges that have plagued the QSR industry globally, resulting in high prices and diminished demands as customers become value sensitive.
Global fast-food brands are looking to a promising market with significant growth potential.
The UK is experiencing a significant change in customer lifestyles, which is characterized by the proliferation of online delivery platforms which are catering to the evolving convenience needs of customers.
According to market Analytics firm Mordor Intelligence, the UK’s QSR market, currently valued at US$ 34.07 billion, is expected to cross the US$ 53.68 billion valuation by 2029, growing at a combined annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.64%, the highest among Western countries.
Among the brands seeking a piece of the UK’s QSR market share is Dave’s Hot Chicken, which recently entered into an agreement with Azzurri Group to open 60 outlets in the UK. The company is expected to open its first outlet in London in 2025.
Chick-fil-A also recently announced plans to expand in the UK with the opening of five new outlets in 2025.
Michael Clarke, Wendy’s UK & Europe’s Managing Director revealed to The Caterer plans of opening several other locations across the UK, with upcoming locations in Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Sheffield, Wood Green, Southend-on-Sea, Colchester, and Hull.
Popeyes also announced plans of doubling its current locations across the UK from the current 38, with new locations set to be open in Glasgow, Swansea, Birmingham, Bishop Auckland, Manchester, London, Aberdeen, Nottingham, and Exeter by the end of the year.
Wingstop also recently announced plans of expanding its reach in the UK market with 15 new stores set to be launched in 2025.
Taco Bell has also revealed plans of adding to its 130 outlets with new locations in London, Guildford, York, Poole, Doncaster, Cardiff, and Aberdeen set to be open by the end of 2025.
