SOUTH AFRICA- Snacks manufacturer Simba and fast food giant KFC have partnered to launch Simba’s KFC Original Recipe® flavoured Potato Chips.
The new offering is available in retail stores across South Africa. However, the retail price has not been made public.
Simba revealed plans for a comprehensive social media marketing campaign for the new product. The campaign will reveal how the snack company got access to KFC’s secret recipe.
The snacking company has encouraged customers to share their thoughts on the new offering on its social media pages using the hashtags #EnaleThatThing, #ItJustMakesSense, #SimbaRoarrrsWithFlavour, and #SimbaXKFC.
According to both companies, the new potato crisps offering brings the Finger Lickin’ Good™ taste of KFC’s best-kept secret recipe to Simba’s beloved potato chips, which should be a pleasant taste experience for customers.
The new potato crisp offering is a continuation of Simba’s strategy of experimenting with flavors for its South African market which has resulted in the development of fan favorite snacks– from the well-known tang of Mrs H.S Ball’s Chutney to the savoury goodness of the classic Creamy Cheddar flavor.
Vilosha Soni, Chief Marketing Officer at Pepsico South Africa, said, “With Simba being a homegrown South African favourite and KFC’s delicious Original Recipe Chicken earning a top spot in South African’s hearts over decades, bringing these two iconic brands together again just made sense.”
“Capturing Mzansi’s unique tastes and the flavour sensations of KFC’s best-kept secret in a crunchy, satisfying Simba chip is a work of art, and the result is truly another revolutionary taste sensation from two of South Africa’s most iconic brands.”
KFC South Africa also welcomed the move, reiterating their aligned values of bringing unforgettable taste and customer experiences.
Grant Macpherson, KFC South Africa’s Chief Marketing Officer, said, “KFC® and Simba’s collaboration is a match made in snack heaven, thanks to our shared love for bringing memorable and iconic tastes to South Africa.”
The new offering is a continuation of the two companies’ longstanding, successful partnership. It was particularly inspired by the 2022 success of the Zinger Winger Chips, which combined the crunch of Simba’s potato crisps with KFC’s Zinger Wings™ spices.
