USA—Pizza restaurant chain Pizza Hut has unveiled the Moving Box Table, a special pizza box that turns into a mini table ideal for customers who may need a quick dining set-up while moving.

Pizza Hut revealed the innovation was informed by a survey commissioned in July 2024. A total of 1,069 people aged 18 and over participated in the survey.

According to the chain, 87% (9 in every 10) of its customers have ordered pizza during a move. The chain also revealed that 79% of movers admit to eating their moving-day pizza on the floor.

Pizza Hut revealed that the limited-edition Moving Box Table is ideal for the fall, a peak time for moving in US cities.

The table is made from a red checkered corrugated structure’ that easily folds into a sturdy base, supporting the pizza box as a tabletop.

The design allows for the box to be transformed into a mini table in a few steps, providing a temporary piece of furniture during a move.

The Moving Box Table comes complementary with orders of a large menu-priced pizza and is offered at select outlets in Dallas, Charlotte and Orlando.

The pizza chain revealed it selected the cities based on a Penske Truck Rental list that ranked the three cities among the US’ top moving destinations.

Melissa Friebe, Pizza Hut’s Chief Marketing Officer, said, “Many can relate to the chaos that comes with moving, and the last thing you want to worry about is unpacking to enjoy a hard-earned meal at the end of a long day.”

“This Moving Box Table will help us show up for Pizza Hut customers by providing not just a delicious pizza after a stressful moving day but somewhere easy and comfortable to enjoy it, too.”

The new product is considered part of QSR chains’ marketing campaigns to create attention during important events or holidays.

The innovation is especially crucial at a time when QSR chains worldwide are facing a challenging market environment. High inflation has pushed back revenues across the fast food industry as cash strapped customers are increasingly weary of prices.
