SOUTH AFRICA — Construction of Club Med’s first resort in South Africa has begun, and it is moving steadily toward its scheduled opening in July 2026.

Officially named Club Med South Africa, this unique destination promises the perfect mix of beachside relaxation and a safari experience.

Nestled alongside the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal, and bordered by vibrant wildlife reserves, the Resort will be an ideal escape for both international and local travellers looking for tranquillity and adventure.

Construction has reached the first floor of the main hotel at Club Med South Africa Beach, comprising 345 rooms.

The resort centre, which will boast a main pool, main restaurant and bar, welcome area, and boutique, is also taking shape with progress on the family area, which will include a pool and kids’ clubs, as well as the sports area.

The platforms for the resort’s exclusive collection villas have been prepared and piling has begun on the 69 luxury villas.

Groundwork has also started on the state-of-the-art conference centre, which will accommodate up to 500 delegates, and the resort’s parking area, which will maintain a vehicle-free zone.

We look forward to onboarding the market and engaging with our customers on this fantastic venture,” Olivier Perillat-Piratoine, MD of Club Med South Africa, commented on the project.

“We will share more information on the Resort and the future experience our guests can expect as the construction progresses.“

The project exemplifies a perfect partnership between global best practices and local expertise. Construction is guided by the Green Building Council of South Africa’s (GBCSA) principles.

The development is on track to achieve a 4-star GBCSA rating, underscoring Club Med’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Club Med is set to make history with the opening of its first-ever Resort in South Africa. The resort will bring its signature all-inclusive offering to the country’s stunning landscapes.

This groundbreaking addition will offer premium accommodation where everything is taken care of—from gourmet meals and an open bar to a wide range of land and water activities and dedicated kids’ clubs, all included in the price.

Joining a prestigious portfolio of sun and snow resorts located in some of the world’s most breathtaking destinations, this new Club Med will introduce a unique bush experience through its exclusive safari lodge located in the north of Zululand.

Additionally, it will feature the first-ever Club Med surf school, making it a must-visit destination for both adventure seekers and those looking to immerse themselves in nature’s beauty.
