USA- Pizza restaurant chain Papa Johns has appointed Kevin Vasconi as Chief Digital and Technology Officer, effective immediately.

In his new role, Vasconi will be responsible for spearheading the development and execution of the pizza chain’s long-term digitization strategy in customer-engagement, corporate management and daily operations.

Vasconi is expected to oversee the advancement of scalable, cost-effective technology capabilities by leveraging advanced tools in data analytics, AI, and machine learning.

The new CTO is also expected to work closely with other departments and develop innovative solutions for both customers and team members.

Prior to his appointment, Vasconi worked for Wendy’s as Chief Information Officer. During his tenure, he led the QSR giant’s digital transformation, tripling its ecommerce wing in three years through a consumer centric-approach.

The new CTO also spent eight years with Domino’s as executive vice president and Chief Information Officer. During this stint, he is credited with developing and growing the company’s e-commerce business.

He brings 35 years of experience in technology, including 12 years at Ford Motor Company, and CIO and CTO roles at Covisint LLC, Polk North America, Polk Global Automotive, and Stanley Black & Decker.

Todd Penegor, Papa Johns’ President and CEO, welcomed the appointment by saying, “Kevin and I worked together at The Wendy’s Company, where I experienced first-hand his ability to lead technology innovation that delivered significant impact for our customers, team members and franchisees.”

The new CTO will report directly to Penegor. He will also serve on Papa Johns’ executive leadership team.

Vasconi also welcomed his appointment, praising Papa Johns’ tech team. He promised to create great experiences for both team members and customers worldwide.

He also described his appointment as ‘a great challenge’ as the QSR digital space becomes more competitive.

Vasconi’s appointment is part of a strategic shake-up in Papa Johns’ executive leadership. Ravi Thanawala and Joe Sieve will assume expanded roles as part of this expansion.

Ravi Thanawala has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer and EVP, while Joe Sieve has been appointed Chief Restaurant and Global Development Officer.
