KENYA- According to popular news outlets Citizen Digital and Business Daily, Robot Café, a new café offering a unique experience in the form of automated robots instead of waiters, the first of its kind in Nairobi and East Africa.

Robot Café is located at Lana Plaza Complex along Oiloitoktok Road in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa Estate. The restaurant is owned by businessman Mohammed Abbas.

The first in East Africa, automated waiters at the café greet guests with a pre-programmed on-screen smile simulating human expression.

The remotely-operated, programmed robots feature in-built trays ready to receive food from staff members and act as platform for delivering meals to customers.

The robots then navigate the restaurant to the designated table, where customers pick their meals from the trays. The automated servers feature AI-powered self-navigating technology for advanced obstacle avoidance.

Opened on June 16, the restaurant strives to cater to the diverse needs of customers receptive to futuristic dining experiences, while not compromising on operational efficiency.

John Kariuki Mwangi, Robot Café’s Manager, said, “We wanted to create an unforgettable dining experience that combines technology with great service.”

“Our robot servers have helped streamline our operations. They’ve made the delivery system more efficient while also freeing up our human staff to focus on what they do best: connecting with our customers.”

According to both news outlets, it is set to induce widespread adoption of technological advances in the sector.

According to Red Café’s management, the restaurant’s main objective is not only to provide a new experience to guests but also to optimize operational efficiency and precision, hallmarks of excellent customer service.

The unique dining experience is also provided by the restaurant’s interior design, featuring sleek, futuristic and captivating interior that transport customers to the heart of restaurant innovation.

Apart from the robot waiters, the other key attraction of Robot Café is its menu. It features a wide selection of international dishes, each crafted with locally sourced ingredients and a touch of culinary artistry from its chefs.

The unique dining experience is an extrapolation of Kenya’s vibrant tech industry, which has permeated the hospitality space. As a first in East Africa, Robot Cafe is predicted to induce a tech-led trend in region.
