USA- South African grilled chicken chain Nando’s PERI-PERI has revealed plans to open a new outlet in Montrose, Houston in Montrose as part of its global expansion strategy.
According to the chain, the new location will be open in early 2025 and will be an addition to the chain’s existing Houston locations in Katy and Galleria.
The 3,100-square-foot restaurant will have an 80-person capacity inside and an additional 30-person tree-shaded patio.
The highlight of the new restaurant’s menu will be Nando’s signature grilled chicken, the Nandocas Choice, marinated for 24 hours in peri-peri and other spices.
The chain reiterated it will continue with its practice of sourcing its peppers and spices from 1,400 local farmers in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and South Africa.
Customers will order their grilled chicken in bowls alongside vegetables and Portuguese rice. The Nandocas Choice features a butterflied chicken breast served over garlic bread with coleslaw; as well as skewers, salads, wraps, and plates with whole pieces.
Nando’s also revealed it will offer different spice levels depending on customers’ tolerance to heat.
Each section will be decorated with artefacts collected from Nando’s extensive art collection.
The restaurant chain selected Montrose as the preferred location of its third outlet in Houston because of a significant number of recent restaurant openings.
Fast casual concept Thai Tail, sophisticated American restaurant Drake’s Hollywood, Korean steakhouse Bori, and vibrant Mediterranean fine dining restaurant Okto have all opened in the area within the past year.
Sepanta Bagherpour, Nando’s USA Chief Brand Officer, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to open our third Nando’s location in the Houston area, especially in the vibrant Montrose neighbourhood.”
“Montrose is walkable, diverse, and full of energy — everything that aligns with the Nando’s spirit. We’re thrilled to become a part of this lively community and can’t wait to share our flame-grilled Peri-Peri chicken with even more Houstonians.”
According to the location’s developer, early 2025 is an appropriate date for the new restaurant to open because of scheduled renovations. The location will host four or five food and beverage concepts, one or two fitness-related businesses, and one or two retail shops.
