PERU- Multinational coffeehouse chain Starbucks, through its licensed Peruvian partner Delosi, has opened its first outlet in the key port city of Iquitos.

The new outlet is located at Mall Aventura Iquitos in the San Juan District and represents the coffeehouse chain’s initial entry into the eastern region of the South American country.

The outlet features artwork by local artist Zelva Uno and aligns with the chain’s ‘Greener Store’ initiative. This is because the new location adheres to environmental standards meant to reduce greenhouse emissions, minimizing waste and water consumption.

The store features 100% LED lights and water-saving technologies.

Starbucks Peru has also revealed plans of introducing its ‘Grounds for Your Garden’ program at the Iquitos store, meant to encourage customers to compost by offering used coffee grounds.

According to the coffeehouse chain, the new outlet is poised to create 15 jobs.

Cristel Delgado, Starbucks Peru’s Brand Manager, welcomed the launch by saying, “We are thrilled to bring the Starbucks experience to Iquitos, a place renowned for its natural and cultural wealth. This marks a significant milestone for us as we unveil our first store in Loreto.”

“This year has been pivotal for our growth in Peru, with new store openings and an increase in innovative formats. As we continue to expand, we remain dedicated to connecting with more customers through a shared love for coffee.

The new outlet is a reflection of Starbucks’ commitment to sustainable growth in South American countries.

It follows the chain’s recent expansion into Puno and Julica, reinforcing this strategic growth plan.

The new Iquitos outlet was also launched a few months after Delosi announced the opening of the coffeehouse chain’s first drive-thru location in Lima’s urban area, situated at the El Ejercito store on Pérez Araníbar Avenue in the San Isidro district.

The El Ejercito outlet has since earned the Starbucks Greener Store Certification by focusing on reducing carbon emissions and adopting eco-friendly practices.

Starbucks also opened its first drive-thru outlet in Coverly, Barbados. The coffeehouse chain stated coverly was selected as the preferred drive-thru location in Barbados because it reflects the lifestyle of the locals.
