KENYA – Sarova Hotels & Resorts recently hosted a dinner to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year in Nairobi, Kenya.
Held at the Sarova Panafric Hotel, the evening was filled with celebrations, tributes, and unforgettable moments, with guests representing various Kenyan industries in attendance.
“Today Sarova continues to stand strong as a Kenyan hospitality brand, contributing positively to the success of the tourism industry in Kenya,” Cabinet Secretary, Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Rebecca Miano said.
“The strategic positioning of Sarova Hotels & Resorts in Nairobi and beyond serves as a hub not only for Kenya but East Africa which makes them an attractive accommodation for hospitality and residence brands.”
On his part Sarova Hotels & Resorts Managing Director, Jimi Kariuki said that the 50 years they have been in operation epitomized the spirit of progress, innovation, and unwavering dedication that defines Sarova Hotels & Resorts.
“Today, we gather to celebrate not just a milestone, but a journey of resilience, adaptation, and enduring commitment to excellence,” Kariuki said.
“Our At Sarova, we believe in the power of community, culture, and the human element. These principles have sustained us beyond just accommodation and culinary experiences.”
Established in April 1974 with the opening of the Ambassadeur Hotel in Nairobi, Sarova Hotels & Resorts has grown into a renowned hospitality powerhouse with nine distinguished properties, collectively offering 1,165 guest bedrooms.
From its modest beginnings, the company has embraced innovation and remained steadfast in its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
Throughout its journey, Sarova Hotels & Resorts has grown its portfolio and diversified its business model to include hotel management services and partnerships. This also includes the launch of standalone specialty restaurants.
In addition to its success, Sarova Hotels has also successfully managed several properties including Taita Hills Safari Lodge and Salt Lick Safari Lodge in Tsavo for 13 years.
This, as well as Sarova Mara Game Camp since 1984, Sarova Woodlands Hotel & Spa in Nakuru since 2017, and Sarova Imperial Hotel in Kisumu since 2022.
The hospitality firm has further expanded its brand through franchise agreements, such as the one with Maiyan Resort, now rebranded to Sarova Maiyan Resort Nanyuki.
In 2023, Sarova also launched its first standalone specialty restaurant, Thai Chi by Sarova, in Nairobi, which is an extension of the Thai Chi Restaurant at Sarova Stanley.
