SOUTH AFRICA- Chef and restaurateur Liam Tomin has launched Room 91, a private events establishment at 91 Bree Street that offers Chef Warehouse’s famed cuisine.
The restaurateur owns Room 91 together with his wife and David Schneider. The adaptable multi-level indoor and outdoor space overlooks Cape Town’s central business district and Signal Hill.
Room 91 is located above Chefs Warehouse & Canteen and Merchant Bar & Grill on Bree Street.
Tomlin revealed Room 91 is a versatile establishment suitable for different occasions like wedding receptions, anniversaries, product launches and even corporate events.
The flexible events space can accommodate up to 200 guests for its cocktail offerings and 70 for meals.
Room 91’s split-level indoor space features warm colour tones, dark wood parquet floors and adjustable LED lighting.
The indoor space’s lower level features a marble-topped bar offering premium drinks, separated by a curtain. It also has a stage and facilities for large-screen TVs, which are ideal for gatherings.
The indoor space also opens into a spacious balcony filled with different appealing plants through a sliding door which offers breathtaking views of Bree Street, Signal Hill, and Table Mountain.
Guests can enjoy Chef warehouse’s globally inspired dishes like braised lamb rib with Persian-spiced lentil ragout and spiced apricot-glazed kingklip. According to Tomlin, the offering moves beyond the conventional catering options.
Tomlin welcomed Room 91’s launch by saying, “One of the things we’ve noticed after running restaurants in the CBD for so many years is that there is a dearth of versatile event spaces in town that serve great food and are not in hotels.”
“We had this wonderful indoor-outdoor space on the top floor of our building that we’d used for a few functions and a strong contingent of highly professional management, kitchen, and front-of-house staff already on the premises.”
The restaurateur also revealed Chefs Warehouse & Canteen, Merchant Bar & Grill, and Room 91 can be booked together for a full 91 Bree Street take-over.
This provision is meant to offer seamless access to all three venues, which is ideal for large events of up to 400 guests.
