FEDHASA partners with Restaurant Collective, SA Chefs Association to boost hospitality sector

SOUTH AFRICA-  The Federal Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) has partnered with South Africa’s Chefs Association and The Restaurant Collective (TRC) to enhance the hospitality sector’s contribution to the economy.

The partnership is expected to significantly improve the sector’s lobbying efforts, encourage innovation and enhance member benefits.

According to Rosemary Anderson, FEDHESA’s National Chairperson, the collaboration reflects the hospitality sector’s cooperation as it seeks to formalize and standardize rules of engagement.

Anderson hopes that through the partnership, guests can consistently receive high-quality services. Formalizing standardized practices is intended to reassure the market of quality customer experiences.

The partnership will also prioritize improving the skills of hospitality sector professionals, formalizing their qualifications, and establishing a more rewarding career path for those who wish to enter the sector.

Anderson said, “This partnership comes at a crucial time as we continue to recover and grow post-pandemic.”

By focusing on formal guidelines and improved qualifications, we’re set to not only support our members but elevate the visitor experience and rebuild the industry as an attractive career choice.”

She called on all partners to pull together and set the tone for the sector’s long-term success.

The partnership will also create the National Restaurant Forum, an avenue for proactive discussions to be held within the sector.

It will also launch South Africa’s first Top Restaurants Awards System, which recognizes the efforts of industry players to elevate standards in the sector.

These initiatives are meant to create a competitive landscape, continuously elevate industry standards, and provide members with the required tools to succeed in the competitive environment. They are also intended to boost supplier participation, strengthening the entire hospitality value chain.

Grace Harding, co-founder of The Restaurant Collective, welcomed the partnership by saying, “Partnering with FEDHASA enhances the overall standing of sit-down restaurants, as this model is closely linked to the broader hospitality sector in South Africa.”

“With FEDHASA’s strong relationships within government and various industries, we have the opportunity to elevate skills and improve the guest experience, driving industry growth.”
