GLOBAL – Online reservations service OpenTable has entered into a strategic partnership with customer-led conversational platform for businesses PolyAI to enhance support for restaurants using advanced AI technologies.
The AI-powered voice assistant will be able to take customer reservations over the phone, answer customer questions, track dining trends and deliver on-brand experiences, all while reducing the workload on restaurant staff.
According to OpenTable, the solution is available for its 50,000 restaurant partners spread across 80 countries.
The integrated solution is intended to facilitate seamless booking and management of reservations through the phone. The seamless nature of the solution is intended to enhance customer reservation experience.
The collaboration also offers customizable voice assistance for larger restaurants to meet the needs of multi-brand portfolios and multi-location restaurants.
PolyAI has assured OpenTable’s restaurant network enterprise-grade assurance of data security, integrity, protection and availability.
Restaurants within OpenTable’s network can access PolyAI’s integration through the reservation service’s integration marketplace.
Michael Chen, PolyAI’s Strategic Alliance Vice President, welcomed the partnership by saying, “We have extensive experience deploying voice assistants to hundreds of locations for some of the largest restaurant groups in the world, helping operators resolve up to 70% of calls over the phone without the need for additional staff.”
“This strong connection with the restaurant industry started right from the earliest days of PolyAI. We’re thrilled to deepen that further and work with OpenTable to help even more restaurant operators attract more diners, streamline operations and maximize revenue.”
The move is an extension of OpenTable’s strategy of optimizing its online reservation service through strategic partnerships with other tech companies.
In October 2023, the reservations service partnered with Popmenu to streamline and modernize menu management for restaurants.
According to both Popmenu and OpenTable, the partnership strives to support restaurant growth by optimizing menu-centric operations such as uploading, editing and managing orders and menu items.
The partnership was intended to save operators time and resources, which are valuable commodities for restaurateurs.
Popmenu aids OpenTable customers to import and build menus, as well as update them across multiple locations.
