SOUTH KOREA – Coffeehouse and roaster chain Starbucks Korea has revamped and relaunched its outlet in Edaeu, a Seoul District.

The reopened outlet features a unique engraving service, which enabled customers to add personalized messages or nicknames to their tumblers. The feature is a first of its kind for South Korean outlets.

The revamped store also features a special exhibition area that displays exclusive merchandise. The exhibition area includes items that are unique to Edae, including shopping bags that feature the brand’s colours along with the pear blossom symbol of nearby Ewha Womans University.

According to the chain, the revamped outlet is intended to enhance Starbucks legacy while at the same time providing a unique experience to customers.

Opened in July 1999, the revamped store was the coffeehouse chain’s first location in South Korea.

The revamped store will also provide a nostalgic experience through exclusive mugs and tumblers among other items that feature the original 1999 logo. Customers can also select item designs that are inspired by South Korean cities.

The store’s design also features a handwritten menu board, a Black Eagle manual espresso machine for brewing coffee, and baristas writing order details directly on cups – all reminiscent of practices from 1999.

The menu features a choice of 14 classic Starbucks beverage options, alongside three new drinks options exclusive to the revamped location- Starbucks Store No.1 Caffe Americano, Starbucks Store No.1 Caffe Latte and Starbucks Store No.1 Cream Latte.

These three menu items are crafted using Starbucks Korea’s specially developed Byuldabang Blend coffee and are served in exclusive mugs.

The revamped restaurant’s food menu features our varieties of classic financiers [an almond teacake] —Butter, Lemon, Pistachio and Raspberry — along with four types of cakes: Chocolate Fresh Cream Cake, Basque Chocolate Cheesecake, Blueberry Marble Cheesecake, and Black Sesame Roll. All items can be ordered individually or as part of a set.

Ryan Sohn, Starbucks Korea’s CEO welcomed the launch by saying, “The Edae store, Korea’s first Starbucks location, has grown alongside the local community over the past 25 years. We hope customers can experience the special value of this unique space and enjoy its exclusive offerings.”
