KENYA – The 2nd edition of the Africa Travel Summit & Expo enters its second day on September 25, 2024, at the Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi Airport.
The first day of the event was as successful as it was interactive. All panel discussions and presentations occurred as scheduled, providing valuable insights on technology, sustainability and enhancing customer experience.
The event’s second day opens at 8 am with a registration and early morning breakfast session.
From 9 a.m. to 9:25 a.m., Mr Raymond Cheruiyot, acting CEO of Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK), will speak on the membership organization.
He is expected to give insights to SME and startup tour operators on leveraging the six pillars of advocacy, promotion and marketing, sustainable tourism, capacity building, and partnerships.
Mr Deepak Meena, cofounder and CEO of Flyzy, is scheduled to speak from 9:25 to 9:45 a.m. on how his company’s B2B travel agency software allows travel agents to seamlessly manage travel inventory, manage their business, and grow into international markets.
From 9:45 to 10:10 a.m., Ms Amanda Owen, Expedia Group’s Director for African, Indian Ocean, and Israel, is scheduled to speak on how her company is revolutionizing travel by providing access to data, tools, and technology to enhance the traveler experience.
Mr Emmanuel Olukanmi, CEO and co-founder of Tramango, will speak from 10:10 to 10:35 a.m. on Africa’s digital travel booking space and the prospects of travel insurance.
From 10:35 to 11 a.m., Mr Sumit Dodhia, founder and CEO of SUMOTRIPS, will speak on the current status and future prospects of travel and accommodation service providers in Africa and beyond.
The first panel discussion of the day is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to noon. Ms. Rita Njeri, Mastercard’s Product & Solutions Director; Mr. Emman Atwa, Safaricom’s Lead MPESA Product Manager; Mr. Giuseppe Cianci, CEO of Booknbook; Mr. Vikaran Ubhi, Paystack’s Product Expansion Director; and Ms. Wendy Lorenze, Kenya Country Manager, booknbook for Africa, will discuss how Digitization Elevates the Guest Experience in African Restaurants.
The panel discussion will follow a coffee and exhibition break from noon till 12:30 p.m.
Mr Jacques Khisa, CEO of Voyage Companion, is scheduled to present on redefining personalized travel experiences in Africa with Gen AI.
A panel discussion on Leveraging Data Analytics for Tourism Development is scheduled from 1 pm to 2 pm. The panelists are Mr Meena, Mr Ayobami, Mr Ben Peterson, CEO of Purple Elephants Ventures, and Mr Kennedy Udunny, head of Marketing at Sopango.app.
A networking lunch session is scheduled to take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The final panel discussion of the day on Innovative Payment Solutions for Travel Transactions is scheduled to take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The panelists for the discussion are Mr Koert grasveld, Terrapay’s EVP, Mr peter Wachira, Tripply.co’s CEO, Mr Edwin Ruzive, Gateway Stream’s General Manager and Mr Mandeep Birdi, Roambuddy’s Founder.
A meeting and exhibition session will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. before the summit and expo officially close.
