UK – Chicken sandwich restaurant chain Chick-fil-A has unveiled the initial locations of its planned UK locations.
The new locations will be in Belfast, Leeds, Liverpool and London. They will be the chain’s first locations outside North America.
The chain revealed it plans to open five restaurants across the UK in these locations in the next two years, leveraging both franchised and company-owned operation models.
Chick-fil-A revealed it plans to invest at least US$100 million in the UK market up to 2033. The initial investment in these five planned locations is expected to create 400 new jobs in both franchised and licensed outlets.
The chain announced the planned locations will offer chicken sourced from the UK and use 100% free-range eggs from poultry farms that meet the company’s welfare certification standards.
The menu of the chain’s UK restaurants will feature offerings such as the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, freshly prepared salads, and hand-breaded nuggets.
Anita Costello, Chick-fil-A’s Chief International Officer, said, “Serving communities is at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to bringing Chick-fil-A’s delicious food and signature hospitality to Belfast, Leeds, Liverpool, and London, and continuing our long-term investment in the UK.”
“From job creation to supporting local causes, we are excited about the positive impact our first restaurants will have in the communities they serve.”
The chain has called on local owner-operators to partner with the sandwich chain in its expansion efforts.
The planned expansion is an extension of the chain’s aggressive expansion strategy.
The locations for the planned UK outlets were announced barely a month after the sandwich chain announced plans to open 25-30 new outlets in Michigan by 2028.
According to the chain, this expansion is expected to generate 2,500 jobs.
The chain also revealed this expansion plan will see new establishments in areas such as Detroit/Ann Arbor. Outlets in Chesterfield Township, Roseville, Taylor, and Fort Gratiot are set to open before the end of 2024.
The chain also targets new locations in Auburn Hills, Canton, Clinton Township, Detroit, the First National Building, Lincoln Park, and Orion Township in 2025.
