NORTH AMERICA – Point-of-sale (POS) and e-commerce service provider Lightspeed Commerce has announced a strategic collaboration with restaurant team management platform 7shifts to streamline payroll and operations for restaurant owners in North America.
Through the collaboration, users of Lightspeed’s POS restaurant system will benefit from 7shift’s technology that allows restaurant partners to import sales, labor, and employee data directly from the team management platform’s database.
The collaboration not only streamlines forecasting capabilities but also ensures that employee data is automatically synchronized, reducing manual tasks and errors, and saving time.
It also introduces 7shifts’ advanced payroll features to Lightspeed users.
These advanced features are payroll administration, tip integration, and benefits management. By automating these processes, restaurant owners can dedicate more time to enhancing customer experiences.
JD St-Martin, Lightspeed’s President, said, “Deepening our partnership with 7shifts will enable our customers to streamline their operations even further, with seamless integration and access to essential payroll features.”
“Through our partnership with 7shifts our customers have saved countless hours in scheduling, and significant amounts on labor costs. We believe by expanding this relationship, our customers will continue to see added benefits to the operational bottom line.”
According to both companies, the collaboration is intended to optimize and simplify restaurant management processes, addressing labor challenges and the need for efficient technology-led restaurant solutions.
Lightspeed Commerce revealed the collaboration was inspired by its 2024 State of Hospitality Report.
The report revealed a majority of restaurateurs are actively looking for ways to improve labor management. As many as 62% of restaurateurs in North America prioritize labor management while 74% are actively looking out for technologies to streamline operations.
The report also revealed the restaurant industry faces constant labor challenges and rising costs. Effective labor management is an increasingly important facet of sustaining profitability.
Lightspeed also expressed confidence over the collaboration, reiterating 7shifts’ expertise in providing solutions to players in the hospitality sector. Lightspeed views 7shifts as a key strategic partner for the future.
The collaboration was announced barely a month after Lightspeed entered a partnership with Le Fou Fou, a European-style food hall situated at the Royalmount retail and lifestyle complex in Montreal, Canada.
