UK – Australian web-based catering management platform Flex Catering has unveiled plans to expand into the UK catering sector.
The move comes as the catering sector in the UK records growth.
According to the market analytics firm Plimsoll UK, the leading contract caterers in the UK achieved a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 12% in the last quarter of 2023. This marked four consecutive quarters of double-digit growth after a period of decline from the pandemic.
Flex Catering revealed it considers the UK market ideal because the platform is tailored to meet the ever-increasing demand from caterers and restaurants that focus on corporate clients seeking an all-in-one solution to enhance their operations.
The platform also revealed it is currently working on integrating with local delivery services. The company expressed confidence its robust online ordering capabilities are sufficient to manage the high order volumes typical of the UK market.
Flex Catering also revealed it will introduce its kitchen reporting and B2B account management tools that enable operators to plan, execute, and elevate their catering offerings, ensuring a premium service experience.
Cris Matsunaga, Flex Catering’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “Flex Catering is excited to bring our innovative platform to the UK. We’ve built a solution that addresses the operational challenges of caterers and restaurants, enabling them to scale their businesses and offer excellent service at every level.”
The move is part of the company’s aggressive global expansion strategy.
The decision to expand into the UK was announced barely a day after Flex Catering announced a strategic partnership with e-commerce logistics company dlivrd.
According to the catering platform, the collaboration is intended to offer a better catering delivery experience to quick-service restaurants (QSRs), enterprise restaurants, and catering operators in the US and Canada.
The collaboration marked a significant step in Flax Catering’s continued penetration to the North American market.
The company entered the US market in January 2024. According to Flex Catering, its foray into the US was inspired by a desire to fill gaps in the industry by offering a direct ordering and management system to improve and optimize catering operations.
