UK – Award-winning Italian restaurant chain Caffè Concerto has announced it will open its first outlet in Leeds on November 22.

Caffè Concerto’s new location in Leeds, will take over the former Tommy Hilfiger store at the Victoria Gate shopping centre. This marks a major addition to the city’s dining scene.

The Leeds branch will continue the brand’s tradition of offering a refined dining experience, featuring the chain’s signature luxurious décor. Guests can expect an elegant atmosphere, complete with chandeliers, velvet seating, and brass accents.

The restaurant will accommodate 138 guests, with additional outdoor seating on Harewood Street for those wishing to enjoy an al fresco dining experience.

Maher Al Hajjar, director of Caffè Concerto, expressed excitement about the opening, stating,We’re incredibly excited to be opening our first restaurant in Yorkshire, in Leeds. At Caffè Concerto, we promise an irresistible allure with a carefully selected menu, delicious cakes, and an exquisite wine selection, which we think the people of Leeds will love.

Al Hajjar also explained that the choice of Victoria Gate was influenced by the area’s vibrant atmosphere, providing the perfect setting to introduce Caffè Concerto’s unique and elegant dining experience to a new audience.

This opening follows a challenging period for the brand, which included legal action in 2021 to address pandemic-related rent arrears and a brief sale listing in late 2022.

Despite these setbacks, Caffè Concerto UK reported a profit of £9.4 million in 2022, signaling a strong recovery. The brand’s international presence is also expanding, with new locations near the Louvre in Paris and across shopping malls in Doha, Jeddah, and Riyadh.

Several Italian restaurant chains have recently expanded across the UK, meeting the demand for authentic Italian cuisine.

Notable openings include the popular chain Carluccio’s, which has relaunched in new locations, and the upscale dining brand San Carlo, known for its refined dishes and chic ambiance.

Additionally, Franco Manca, famous for its sourdough pizza, has seen rapid growth, further solidifying Italian dining as a key part of the UK’s diverse culinary landscape.

The recent openings are considered promising signs of the UK’s restaurant sector.
