INDIA – Berlin inspired QSR chain Donor Shack has entered a strategic franchise agreement with leading Asian franchiser FranGlobal to open 150 new outlets in India.
Doner Shack’s franchise agreement with FranGlobal positions it to become one of Asia’s fastest-growing quick service restaurant (QSR) brands.
Doner Shack noted that their decision was motivated by India’s promising QSR market. India is swiftly emerging as a global franchise hub, with the QSR market projected to reach US$ 25.46 billion in 2024 and anticipated to expand to US$ 38.71 billion by 2029.
As the country progresses towards becoming the world’s third-largest consumer market, it is also experiencing over 85% growth in high-net-worth investors. This continuous urbanization is generating a growing number of opportunities across diverse locations.
Doner Shack’s target demographic aligns well with India’s population, as 65% of Indians are under 35 years old.
Most young adults in India reportedly dine out at least once a week, with a preference for online ordering and pickup options.
This trend reflects a shift away from traditional sit-down dining, with younger generations embracing affordable and fast food options that provide immediate satisfaction.
As a result, while longer and more expensive dining experiences are on the decline, QSRs are steadily gaining popularity.
Doner Shack’s co-founder, Sanj Sanghera, highlighted the importance of Gaurav’s extensive experience in the Indian franchise sector, noting that it adds immense value to their expansion strategy.
He added, “This partnership is a major milestone for Doner Shack, and we’re excited to open the first of many outlets in the region.”
FranGlobal’s chairman and founder, Gaurav Marya, recognized the brand’s significant growth potential in the region and decided to support its expansion.
Gaurav, who began investing at age 16 in India—still his primary investment base—has achieved considerable success in entrepreneurship, founding Franchise India in 1999, which now stands as Asia’s largest integrated franchise and retail solutions company.
Gaurav expressed his enthusiasm for bringing Doner Shack to India, saying, “Partnering with a visionary founder, our goal is to establish 150 stores within the next five years!”
