JAPAN – Los Angeles-based donut restaurant chain Randy’s Donuts has announced the finalization of a franchise agreement with Grit International to open 50 outlets across Japan.
Randy’s Donuts revealed that the first of its anticipated 50 stores in Japan is scheduled to open by Q2 2025.
This expansion will be spearheaded by Grit International, a franchise group led by experienced food and beverage executives. The franchise deal marks a key milestone in Randy’s Donuts’ ongoing global expansion strategy and will introduce its renowned products to a fresh market.
“We are thrilled to bring Randy’s Donuts to Japan,” stated Mark Kelegian, the company’s owner.
He emphasized that this new venture represents a valuable opportunity to reach a broader audience and affirmed a commitment to maintaining the quality and experience customers expect.
The move is part of Randy’s Donut’s efforts to intensify its international and U.S. expansion with significant new franchising initiatives in 2024.
Globally, the brand has partnered with Edwards Global Services to accelerate its international reach.
Current franchises in the Philippines, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia have experienced rapid growth, adding up to 19 locations, Randy’shas outlined future deals for regions like the UK, Mexico, and Taiwan.
In the US, Randy’s aims to reach up to 150 franchise locations in various stages by year-end.
Active deals include 11 new stores in Arizona and 10 in Atlanta, with ongoing negotiations for expansion in Michigan, Idaho, and Texas.
Additionally, the Central Valley in California will see 10 new stores opening over the next two years.
This blend of strategic domestic and international expansions underscores Randy’s commitment to rapid growth and increased accessibility of its brand worldwide.
Founded in 1952, Randy’s Donuts is famous for the iconic 32-foot donut on its Inglewood location’s rooftop.
The brand offers over 60 varieties of donuts, from classics to premium selections, along with “Randy’s Rounds”—a larger take on traditional donut holes. Each donut is crafted by hand with proprietary ingredients, creating a fluffier and longer-lasting product that has been a signature for over 70 years.
