UAE – Marriott International has unveiled an ambitious expansion of its branded residential portfolio in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), solidifying its position as a leader in luxury and premium lifestyle offerings.
With 41 projects in the region, including 29 in the pipeline and 12 already operational, the company is doubling down on its commitment to the growing demand for branded residences.
Over the past two years, Marriott has signed 19 agreements across the MEA region, more than doubling the number of similar deals from the previous two years.
These agreements encompass a diverse range of properties, from iconic luxury addresses such as Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residence in Saudi Arabia, to urban developments like the W Residences at Dubai Harbour.
Dana Jacobsohn, Chief Development Officer for Global Mixed-Use Development at Marriott, emphasized the region’s significance in driving the company’s growth.
“The Middle East and Africa are home to some of the world’s most coveted destinations. The extraordinary benefits we offer to developers and Residence Owners allow us to maintain a strong position in this segment,” she said.
Strategic growth in key markets
Marriott’s focus aligns with regional trends, including rising urbanization, growing tourism, and increased demand for luxury real estate.
In 2023, the Middle East welcomed 83 million international tourists, marking a 12% increase from the previous year.
Similarly, the GDP of Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to grow by 3.6% in 2024, fueling economic and infrastructure development.
Among the new projects are the JW Marriott Residences New Cairo, the first JW Marriott-branded residence in Africa, and The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Cairo, Palm Hills, featuring 150 units that combine urban living with natural beauty.
In the UAE, notable projects include the St. Regis Residences in Dubai, which sold 70% of its units within the first hour of launch, showcasing the high demand for Marriott-branded properties.
Enhanced services for residence owners
Marriott’s branded residences are designed to offer world-class luxury and personalized services. Owners benefit from exclusive privileges through the ONVIA recognition platform, which provides unique access to the Marriott Bonvoy® portfolio.
Jaidev Menezes, Regional Vice President of Mixed-Use Development for EMEA, highlighted the value of partnerships with top-tier developers.
“We work with the best in the industry to create properties that combine exceptional design, iconic destinations, and unparalleled service. This collaboration ensures that Residence Owners receive a premium lifestyle experience.”
By the end of 2024, Marriott plans to celebrate the opening of several highly anticipated projects, including the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Diriyah in Saudi Arabia, and the Residences at the St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort in Oman.
These projects reflect the company’s strategy of merging cultural authenticity with contemporary luxury.
