KENYA – Sarova Hotels has emerged as a shining example of African hospitality on the world stage, securing multiple prestigious accolades at the 2024 World Luxury Hotel Awards.

The group’s success reflects its commitment to exceptional guest experiences and its role in promoting the region’s hospitality excellence globally.

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, located in Nakuru National Park, was honored as East Africa’s Luxury Game Lodge and Safari Lodge, and crowned Africa’s Luxury Safari Retreat.

Sarova Mara Game Camp in the Masai Mara received awards for being East Africa’s leading Luxury Safari Retreat and Africa’s Best Tented Safari Camp.

Urban luxury also shone through, with Sarova Stanley in Nairobi winning titles such as East Africa’s Most Luxurious City Hotel, Conference & Event Hotel, and Africa’s Luxurious Heritage Hotel.

Along Kenya’s coastline, Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa triumphed in three categories: Luxury Beachfront Resort, Conference & Event Hotel, and Family Beach Resort.

Sarova Maiyan in Nanyuki also earned recognition, taking home awards for Luxury Hotel & Conference Centre, Wedding Resort, and Rooftop View Hotel, further underscoring the group’s versatility across leisure, business, and celebratory experiences.

“These awards underscore the passion, dedication, and excellence our teams consistently bring to our guests,” said Jimi Kariuki, Managing Director of Sarova Hotels & Resorts.

“They also demonstrate the unique warmth of African hospitality that sets us apart on a global stage.”

The accolades come as Sarova Hotels marks its 50th anniversary, a significant milestone in its journey of hospitality excellence.

Founded in 1974 with the opening of Ambassadeur Hotel in Nairobi, the group has grown to operate nine properties, offering over 1,165 guest rooms.

“This milestone is not just a celebration of our heritage but also an opportunity to set new standards in luxury hospitality,” Kariuki added.

“We remain committed to delivering unmatched experiences for our guests while contributing to the communities we serve.”

African hospitality in global spotlight

The 2024 World Luxury Hotel Awards further highlighted Sarova Hotels’ growing influence as African hospitality gains international prominence.

These awards, established in 2006, are widely regarded as the pinnacle of recognition for luxury hotels.

Competing against renowned global brands such as The Ritz Hotel in London and Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, Sarova Hotels demonstrated its ability to blend cultural authenticity with modern excellence.

The group’s success aligns with a broader trend of increased recognition for African hospitality on the world stage.

Notable winners this year included The Ritz London, which was named Global Hotel of the Year, and Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, recognized for its sustainable practices and design excellence.
