AFRICA – easyJet has unveiled a significant addition to its summer 2025 schedule, marking its first-ever route to Sub-Saharan Africa.

Flights to Sal, Cape Verde, will begin on March 31, 2025, departing from London Gatwick three times a week throughout the summer season.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK Country Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the new offerings: “We are thrilled to launch an incredible selection of new routes and packages. Cape Verde is a beautiful destination, and this marks an important step for us in expanding options for our UK customers.”

Located off Africa’s west coast, Cape Verde boasts a blend of sun-soaked beaches and cultural richness. Flights to Sal will operate thrice weekly—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—from London Gatwick throughout the summer season.

To complement the route, easyJet holidays has curated packages for the destination, including stays at top-tier resorts like Melia, catering to families, couples, and adults-only groups. The packages come with perks such as 23kg luggage, hotel transfers, and flexible booking options.

This venture taps into the growing popularity of Sub-Saharan Africa as a travel destination. Recent data indicates the region’s tourism industry is expected to generate US$120 billion in revenue by 2025, creating millions of jobs and supporting local economies.

Expanding horizons across Europe

Beyond Cape Verde, easyJet is broadening its network with several new routes across Europe. Flights to Rimini in Italy, a picturesque coastal destination, are among the highlights, further enhancing the airline’s extensive Italian offerings.

In Spain, travelers from Leeds Bradford Airport will gain access to new routes to Malaga and Palma, while Manchester Airport introduces connections to Madrid and additional cities, providing more options for holidaymakers seeking sun-soaked getaways or vibrant city breaks.

The airline’s commitment to affordability and convenience underscores its growing appeal to a wide range of customers.
