ROMANIA – Greek cuisine restaurant chain Spartan Restaurants has announced a strategic partnership with real estate company Nhood Services to support its expansion into Romania and Spain.

Currently operating 70 locations in Romania and one in Castellón, Spain, Spartan aims to grow its footprint under the leadership of new shareholders Remus Cosovanu and Răzvan Nanuș, alongside CEO Gabriel Melniciuc.

The new management team has outlined strategic initiatives to drive growth, including the introduction of new menu items, opening street-level locations near residential and office areas, and launching a management school.

These plans are fueled by Spartan’s strong performance, with the chain reporting a EUR 48 million (US$50.3 million) turnover in 2023 and announcing both local and international expansion objectives.

The team plans to add up to 50 new locations in Romania while further developing its franchise model in Spain, where it already operates two outlets.

Nhood, a consultancy specializing in franchise growth, will play a critical role in Spartan’s expansion.

The firm will focus on identifying franchise partners and securing prime locations for the brand’s new restaurants.

Nhood’s expertise in real estate and commercial space management is expected to be instrumental in tailoring the expansion to the unique market conditions in Spain and Poland, both of which are seeing growth in the QSR segment despite their distinct culinary cultures.

Gabriela Piștalu, Head of Property and Asset Services at Nhood Services Romania, emphasized the partnership’s significance by saying, “This collaboration with Spartan demonstrates our capability to support local brands in achieving international growth.”

Nhood’s extensive network and experience in managing commercial spaces position it as a strong partner for brands like Spartan looking to expand in European markets.

This collaboration is expected to solidify Spartan’s international presence and drive the chain’s long-term growth.
