UAE – Players in MENA’s restaurant sector, through the MENA Restaurant Community recently held a gathering at the Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai that encouraged the widespread incorporation of digital and tech solutions in the sector.  

The event brought together industry experts to discuss strategies for improving operational efficiency through technology and building customer loyalty in the competitive food and beverage sector.

Among the attendees were representatives from companies such as LDC Kitchen+Coffee, Hookahplace Chain, Naimas Cafe & Bistro, Upside Down Burgers, Osh Del Mar, Sunrise Cafe, and Lamarz, among others.

Alexander Ponomarev, CEO of Syrve MENA, noted that the UAE’s full-service restaurant market is expected to reach US$8.39 billion in 2024.

He emphasized the importance of creating exceptional dining experiences and fostering industry connections, highlighting the role of community members and participants who are not only building successful restaurants but also sharing insights and supporting one another.

He added that their commitment and enthusiasm play a crucial role in shaping the future of the industry.

Anna Suvorova, a performance management consultant and soft skills trainer, led a workshop on delivering customer-centric service.

She discussed proven strategies and tools aimed at improving customer retention and driving repeat business.

Suvorova pointed out the highly competitive nature of Dubai’s restaurant scene, with over 13,000 restaurants, and stressed that only adaptable and resilient businesses would thrive.

She explained that success in this market does not rely solely on offering trendy dishes or stylish interiors, but rather on building a service model that focuses on understanding and meeting customer needs and expectations at every touchpoint.

Ghassan Nawfal, SVP of Global Sales at Grubtech, highlighted the importance of proactive communication in managing customer expectations.

He emphasized the need to identify opportunities for delivering quality service, reducing disruptions, and building trust to ensure long-term customer satisfaction.

Nawfal shared that every challenge faced by restaurant operators has provided valuable lessons in meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

Maqsood Gul, Manager of Sunrise Cafe, expressed his gratitude for the event, calling it a valuable opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals and gain new insights. He also expressed hope for more such events in the future, stating that they would continue to participate.
