GLOBAL – Order management company and fresh food supplier to restaurants Fresho has announced it has secured US$17 million in Series B funding, meant to invest in technology and accelerate global expansion.

Fresho has raised a total of US$50 million in funding following the latest oversubscribed round, led by Geoff Tarrant, co-founder and former executive chairman of Payapps. Tarrant will also join Fresho’s board of directors.

The funding will support Fresho’s investments in AI and emerging technologies, while enabling expansion in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

By 2025, the company plans to establish a stronger on-the-ground presence in the US, building on successful customer launches in Texas, New York, and California since 2022.

Fresho’s platform simplifies the processing of overnight restaurant orders received through multiple channels. Its AI-driven system automates these tasks, offering real-time access to pricing and product availability.

This improves order accuracy and speeds up processing while reducing unsociable working hours for suppliers’ staff.

Co-founder and CEO James Andronis highlighted the company’s growth despite market challenges, “We are pleased to have closed this round in a challenging fundraising environment. This speaks to the size of the opportunity and our track record of consistent growth and capital management.”

Founded in 2015 by Andronis and Huw Birrell, Fresho has processed over 30 million orders since 2016, including 10 million in the past year. The platform uses a closed marketplace model to strengthen supplier-restaurant relationships while digitizing operations.

Co-founder and COO Huw Birrell shared the company’s vision by saying, “This funding marks an exciting new phase as we double down on reshaping the fresh food supply chain with innovative tech.”

“By investing in AI and emerging technologies, we’re not just enhancing operational efficiency – we’re empowering our customers to thrive in a rapidly evolving market. Our focus remains on delivering solutions that help fresh food wholesalers excel with speed, precision, and insight.”

Fresho’s technology has been embraced by prestigious clients, including Michelin-starred venues such as Wild Honey at Sofitel St James in London, Cote and Le Bernardin in New York City, and Bennelong and Café Sydney in Australia.
