Yum! China launches digital supplier recruitment platform

CHINA – QSR franchiser and operator Yum! China has officially introduced its digital supplier recruitment platform meant to reduce the workload and time required for supplier assessment.

Yum China introduced the new supplier recruitment platform at the second China International Supply Chain Expo, held in Beijing from November 26 to 30, 2024.

This initiative seeks to connect with top-tier enterprises globally, integrating them into Yum China’s supply chain network.

The platform represents a transition from traditional supplier selection methods to a more interactive, data-driven approach, enhancing both efficiency and transparency in supplier engagement.

Prospective suppliers can now submit their credentials online, streamlining the evaluation process by reducing manual efforts.

This aligns with Yum China’s “Spend Better, Buy Better” strategy, which focuses on fostering relationships with global suppliers to deliver superior products to the Chinese market.

Since its pilot launch in April 2024, the platform has received applications spanning over 30 categories.

At the launch ceremony, Yum China signed agreements with several domestic and international companies to strengthen partnerships aimed at sourcing innovations and elevating the culinary experience for its customers.

The company’s extensive supply chain management system includes more than 800 core suppliers covering areas such as food ingredients and packaging materials.

By employing advanced procurement strategies, Yum China aims to provide safe, diverse, and delicious menu options tailored to Chinese consumer preferences. This platform serves as a vital component of Yum China’s broader strategy to drive growth while optimizing operations.

In another significant milestone, Yum China opened its 1,000th KFC outlet in Guangzhou Province earlier in November 2024.

Additionally, the 100th KCOFFEE café in Guangdong Province was launched, underscoring the success of the combined KFC and KCOFFEE business model. This dual-format expansion highlights Yum China’s dedication to innovation and growth in the foodservice industry.

With over 15,000 restaurants across 2,200 cities in China and a workforce of 400,000, Yum China has consistently demonstrated its ability to innovate.

Guangdong Province, in particular, has been a hub for testing new products and business models, including automated food trucks and breakfast kiosks at subway stations.

In October 2024, the company also launched its KPRO concept stores in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, focusing on healthy, nutritionally balanced meal options.
