Marriott International extends partnership with IRIS for enhanced mobile dining solutions

USA – Marriott International has renewed its exclusive 10-year digital food and beverage (F&B) partnership with IRIS Software Systems, solidifying a commitment to improving guest experiences through mobile ordering technology.

This collaboration underscores Marriott’s focus on digital innovation across its global network of 8,700 properties.

Over the past ten years, Marriott has integrated IRIS’s mobile dining solutions into its operations, resulting in double-digit growth in guest orders and F&B revenue.

IRIS’s technology, embedded within the Marriott Bonvoy app, allows guests to order meals seamlessly from various locations, including their rooms, poolside, or at events.

Jami Meier, Director of Outlets at Kansas City Marriott Downtown, highlighted the impact, saying, “The app has significantly reduced customer wait times by over 30 minutes and contributed to a 94% increase in F&B revenue year-over-year.”

IRIS’s platform provides additional benefits, such as guest access to hotel information, local recommendations, and concierge services, further enriching the user experience.

It is supported by integrations with leading payment and point-of-sale systems, including Oracle Simphony Cloud and Stripe, enabling smooth operations for Marriott’s 30 brands.

The partnership’s renewal coincides with IRIS’s rollout of new functionalities designed to streamline both guest and staff interactions.

These features include allergen search filters, group bill splitting, and a “call waiter” option for faster service.

Additionally, the platform now supports digital staff ordering, enabling waitstaff to use the app for real-time order placements, reducing wait times and boosting operational efficiency.

Graham Rushin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at IRIS, explained, “The demand for mobile ordering and self-service options continues to grow. Average digital order values are 20–30% higher than traditional orders, showcasing the strong guest preference for this format.”

While revolutionizing hotel F&B operations, IRIS has also ventured into cutting-edge communication technologies.

The company is spearheading the IRIS² satellite constellation project, aimed at enhancing secure communication infrastructures within the European Union. This initiative involves deploying 300 satellites, emphasizing IRIS’s diverse expertise.

Additionally, IRIS has advanced its digital guest directory services, replacing traditional paper guides with interactive platforms that boost guest engagement and promote hotel services. These tools align with the broader trend of digitization within the hospitality industry.
