UGANDA – Travel Promoters has been appointed as the official UK Sales and Marketing representative for Speke Holidays, a leading destination management company (DMC) specializing in Uganda and Rwanda.

The partnership aims to expand the company’s presence in the UK market and promote these two East African nations as prime travel destinations.

Ailsa Tavares, from Travel Promoters, expressed excitement about the new venture: “Having met before, I was delighted to reconnect with Tony Mulinde, Managing Director of Speke Holidays, at a trade show earlier this year.”

“I was immediately reminded of Tony’s deep knowledge and commitment to sustainable tourism that benefits both people and the planet. We look forward to bringing this offering to the UK trade and growing the market for Speke Holidays.”

Speke Holidays, founded in 2008, specializes in affordable safaris to Uganda and Rwanda. Tony Mulinde, a seasoned safari guide, leads the company, emphasizing the importance of passion in every aspect of the business.

With a team of experienced safari guides and office staff fluent in multiple languages, Speke Holidays ensures a quality experience for every guest. Their dedication to community, culture, and conservation remains central to their operations.

“We are excited to work alongside Travel Promoters to increase awareness and offer exceptional travel experiences in Uganda and Rwanda,” said Mulinde.

“Our focus is on providing guests with authentic, unforgettable safaris while promoting sustainable tourism practices.”

Growing Uganda’s tourism sector

Uganda’s tourism sector is on the rise, with the government pledging to increase funding and resources to drive further economic growth.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa highlighted the importance of tourism during the Ekkula Sustainable Tourism Awards in Kampala, where he stated, “Tourism is a vital pillar of our economy. Even with limited resources, the sector has managed to attract visitors and generate significant revenue. With greater investment, its potential is enormous.”

The Ugandan government has set a target to increase tourism revenue to US$50 billion by 2050, with a focus on strategic investments in marketing, branding, and infrastructure.

Part of this effort includes plans for new airports, including a public-private partnership project in Kasese, aimed at improving connectivity to key tourist destinations.

At the Ekkula Awards, President Yoweri Museveni received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to tourism, while Eliot Mugisha was honored as the Sustainable Tourism Youth Champion.

The event celebrated the achievements of individuals and organizations advancing Uganda’s tourism industry.
