Toast, Uber extend partnership to broaden food delivery options

USA – Cloud-based restaurant management software company Toast has extended its collaboration with ride-hailing company Uber to offer broadened delivery options for its restaurant clients.

Toast has expanded its partnership with Uber to reduce delivery costs, broaden delivery areas, and leverage Uber’s extensive network for local order deliveries.

The collaboration between Toast Delivery Services and Uber Direct is designed to benefit U.S. restaurants by lowering delivery fees and increasing their service reach.

Restaurants can now offer local deliveries for orders placed through various channels, including phone orders and Toast’s digital ordering platforms such as Online Ordering, Branded Mobile App, and the Local by Toast app.

This integration builds on the partnership between Toast and Uber, which has been in place since 2021 to streamline deliveries for orders made through the Uber Eats app.

Kelly Esten, Toast’s Chief Marketing Officer, expressed excitement about the expanded partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Uber and are pleased to offer Uber Direct through Toast Delivery Services. This collaboration provides restaurants with fast, reliable local delivery support through Toast-powered ordering platforms.”

“By partnering with Uber Direct, restaurants can maximize their margins with commission-free deliveries and reach a broader customer base. We’re excited to bring these benefits to restaurants across the U.S.”

This partnership not only helps restaurants attract new customers through the Uber Eats app but also allows them to leverage Uber’s advanced delivery technology and network through Uber Direct.

The service enables restaurants to manage local deliveries originating from their own sales channels, including orders placed via their websites and mobile apps, as well as phone orders. Additionally, Uber Direct offers commission-free deliveries at a low, flat fee per order.

Brandi Villarreal, Head of Online Food Delivery at Uber Direct, highlighted the competitive advantage of the service, saying, “To stay competitive and offer a seamless experience to consumers, restaurants are increasingly seeking ways to meet customer demands. We’ve seen that restaurants listed on Uber Eats are also partnering with us through Uber Direct, recognizing the reliable and fast delivery experience.”

“Now, they can also fulfill orders placed on their own websites, apps, and other channels while continuing to attract new customers via Uber Eats.”

One notable example is Over Easy, a growing breakfast chain with 16 locations in Arizona, which has successfully utilized the integration to improve its hospitality operations for both staff and customers.
