MIDDLE EAST- Dr. Nasser Mhaisen, Under-Secretary of the Kuwait Ministry of Information, reiterated on December 11 the State of Kuwait’s commitment to supporting and encouraging small and medium tourism enterprises through planned initiatives.
The speech was delivered at the General Secretariat of the Arab League headquarters.
Dr. Al-Mhaisen, chairing Kuwait’s delegation on behalf of the Minister of Information and Culture and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, was joined by Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, and officials from the Ministry of Information’s Undersecretary office.
The ministerial meeting focused on a series of proposals and recommendations presented during the Council’s Executive Office meeting held on December 10, where Kuwait assumed the role of Vice President.
The discussions also covered digital transformation, technological advancements, and artificial intelligence, exploring how these elements can enhance the tourism sector across Arab countries.
Dr. Al-Mhaisen emphasized that the meeting occurs against the backdrop of increasing global challenges, underscoring the need for enhanced cooperation and collective efforts to develop the tourism sector as a key driver of sustainable economic and social progress.
He highlighted the tourism sector’s significance within Arab tourism and affirmed Kuwait’s support for the joint Arab tourism system and development projects in this field.
He also reiterated that Kuwait is committed to enhancing the benefits of tourism organizations in the Arab world and fostering regional collaboration.
Al-Mhaisen called for unified efforts to maximize the potential of the tourism industry, proposing strategies to strengthen the Arab tourism ecosystem, build trust among Arab tourists, and encourage intra-regional tourism through collaborative opportunities.
He extended gratitude to Saad Al-Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, for his leadership during the 26th session, reflecting Qatar’s commitment to advancing regional tourism.
Al-Mhaisen also wished success to Salem Al-Mahrouqi, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, in leading the 27th session to achieve shared tourism development goals.
Commending the Arab League’s Secretariat for its excellent preparation and organization, Al-Mhaisen expressed hope that practical recommendations from the meeting would further strengthen Arab cooperation in tourism and help realize common objectives.
