USA – Food ordering and delivery platform Grubhub has announced the expansion of its partnership with Hilton Hotel to deliver food, groceries and convenience items to more than 2,600 hotels across Hilton’s Hampton, Tru and Spark brands.
Grubhub partnered with Hilton in 2023 to offer food delivery services to 500 Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2Suites by Hilton properties.
The third-party delivery platform, acquired by Wonder earlier this year, has expanded its presence in the hotel sector through collaborations with brands such as Sonesta, My Place Hotels of America, and Choice Hotels International.
These partnerships serve a dual purpose: enhancing guest amenities and boosting Grubhub’s brand visibility in the U.S., where it ranks as the third-largest delivery provider by market share.
Since initiating its Hilton partnership, delivery orders to Hilton properties have more than doubled. Guests can access Grubhub’s network of over 375,000 merchants by scanning a QR code in their hotel rooms.
Hilton guests are also offered a complimentary one-month Grubhub+ membership, which includes benefits like zero delivery fees, reduced service fees, and a 5% credit on pickup orders.
Bill Duncan, Hilton’s Senior Vice President and Global Category Head of All Suites and Focused Service Brands, noted that extending the Grubhub Onsite partnership to include Hampton, Tru, and Spark hotels enhances guest experiences by providing convenient access to desired items during their stay.
The initiative aligns with Grubhub’s broader strategy of growth and market penetration through strategic partnerships.
While historically challenged in gaining U.S. market share, the platform has made significant strides in expanding its services. One of its fastest-growing channels is campus ordering, which now spans over 360 universities.
Students can view their campus balances in Grubhub’s app and access both on- and off-campus dining options.
Participants in eligible programs receive free Grubhub+ Student memberships, offering benefits such as zero delivery fees, reduced service fees, and a 5% credit on off-campus pickup orders.
Grubhub is also extending robot delivery services to nearly a dozen additional universities, including the University of Mississippi, Prairie View A&M University, and Howard University.
Additionally, Grubhub partners with Amazon to provide Prime members in the U.S. with Grubhub+ memberships. In May, Amazon integrated Grubhub restaurant delivery into its platform, facilitating easier access to the service.
