PUERTO RICO – Leading coffeehouse and roaster chain Starbucks has opened two new outlets in Puerto Rico, increasing its store count to 35 in the area.
Baristas del Caribe has opened two new Starbucks locations in Puerto Rico, marking the company’s 34th and 35th stores on the island.
One store is situated at the River Town Plaza Commercial Center in Bayamón, while the other is located within the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in Hato Rey, the brand’s first hospital-based outlet in Puerto Rico.
These openings reaffirm Starbucks’ commitment to job creation and economic growth in the region.
With a total investment exceeding US$3 million, the new locations have generated 50 direct jobs and introduced new partners to deliver the signature Starbucks experience.
The River Town Plaza store caters to both locals and visitors, while the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital store offers a tranquil environment for patients, families, and healthcare workers.
Both outlets serve Starbucks’ handcrafted beverages and food in spaces designed for comfort and social interaction.
Idis Ortiz-López, General Manager of Starbucks Puerto Rico, expressed excitement about the expansion, highlighting the company’s dedication to community connection.
She noted that the hospital location provides a welcoming space for those in need of a peaceful retreat. Starbucks has operated in Puerto Rico for 20 years, supporting local communities through job creation and social initiatives.
These openings are part of Starbucks’ broader reinvention strategy, which includes the introduction of advanced Mastrena 2.0 coffee machines for enhanced service efficiency.
Both stores also participate in the Starbucks Grounds for Your Garden program, offering customers used coffee grounds as a sustainable composting resource.
Additionally, each location plans to engage with local organizations through community volunteering and collaborative projects.
In a separate expansion, Starbucks Argentina, operated by Alsea, inaugurated its first drive-through store in Nordelta, Buenos Aires, in December 2024.
Located on Avenida Agustín M García 8554, the store combines convenience with design elements inspired by the Argentine delta, a popular forested marshland near the city.
Designed by architect Victoria Odriozola, the store incorporates native materials such as jute and walnut wood, creating an inviting space that blends local culture with Starbucks’ renowned hospitality.
