KFC to open new dining concept

USA – Fast food giant KFC has announced plans to open a new dining concept, Saucy on December 23 in Orlando, Florida.

The spin-off restaurant, Saucy, centered on customizable chicken tenders, offered a variety of sauces and beverages to provide a personalized dining experience.

The restaurant featured a pink color scheme and contemporary design, aimed at delivering a modern customer experience enhanced by the latest industry technology.

Located in the Waterford Lakes neighborhood of Orlando, Saucy included drive-through lanes, self-service kiosks, and advanced back-of-house technology that utilized real-time data to improve service efficiency and maintain food freshness.

To enhance the dining experience, the company organized live entertainment and other programs, creating a space for patrons to relax, enjoy meals, and spend more time.

The menu emphasized 11 signature sauces inspired by KFC’s original 11 herbs and spices, offering options like Chimichurri Ranch and Sweet Teriyaki.

It also included chicken tenders, sandwiches, and sides, with desserts such as chocolate mousse cake and key lime cake.

In response to the growing demand for niche dining experiences, McDonald’s introduced a small-format concept, CosMc’s, in December 2023.

Featuring a retro space theme, the concept aligned with McDonald’s plan to expand its global presence to 50,000 restaurants by 2027.

The launch of Saucy aligned with KFC’s strategy for market consolidation, emphasizing menu revitalization and new store openings.

In December 2024, Value Foodservice (VFS), a KFC franchisee, expanded to 59 locations by acquiring 11 stores. This move, focused on the greater Nashville area, including Kentucky and Tennessee, further strengthened its presence in the U.S. foodservice sector.

The expansion was led by VFS CEO Jon Blob, an industry veteran, and supported financially by BlackBern Partners, showcasing confidence in the company’s growth initiatives.

Additionally, KFC introduced its Buckets of Joy holiday bucket in early December 2024.

Designed by popular illustrator duo Yeye Weller, the bucket featured vibrant artwork and was accompanied by streetwear-inspired holiday merchandise.

New meal deals, such as the Festive Feast Deal priced at US$25.99, included fried chicken, tenders, sides, and the option to add Cherry Pie Poppers, catering to holiday gatherings and weeknight dinners.
