ETHIOPIA – Emirati low cost airline Air Arabia has revealed the launch of non-stop flights to Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, starting January 30, a move meant to significantly enhance the hospitality sector in the East African country.
The new service connecting Sharjah International Airport with Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, is set to significantly impact Ethiopia’s tourism and hospitality industry.
This route expansion highlights Air Arabia’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between the UAE and Africa, boosting tourism, trade, and investment opportunities for Ethiopia.
“This new route reflects Air Arabia’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering economic and cultural ties between the UAE and Ethiopia” said Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia.
“By expanding our destinations from Sharjah, we aim to boost trade and tourism while continuing to offer affordable and convenient travel options to our customers,” he added.
The direct flight will not only improve travel accessibility but also support Ethiopia’s growing tourism sector by providing easier access to international visitors, making the country a more attractive destination for both leisure and business travel.
Air Arabia operates a modern fleet of 81 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, equipped with advanced in-flight amenities, including SkyTime, free streaming services, and SkyCafe, all designed to offer a value-added experience at affordable prices.
These innovations enhance passenger comfort, further promoting the airline as a preferred choice for travelers to Ethiopia.
Alongside Air Arabia’s expansion, the UAE’s other carriers are strengthening their ties with Africa. Emirates Airlines, with its history of growing African connectivity since 1986, has recently expanded its flights to Addis Ababa, contributing to the growth of Ethiopia’s tourism sector.
Additionally, Etihad Airways has announced plans to double its Africa network by 2025, adding more routes and frequencies, further supporting Ethiopia’s position as a key destination for international travelers.
This strengthened air connectivity will play a vital role in driving growth in Ethiopia’s tourism and hospitality sectors, providing greater access for tourists, encouraging trade, and creating more investment opportunities, all of which are essential for the country’s economic development.
