Starbucks opens 100th outlet in Mumbai

INDIA – Multinational coffeehouse and roaster chain Starbucks has announced the opening of its 100th outlet in Mumbai, a major milestone for the chain.

TATA Starbucks recently celebrated the opening of its 100th store in Mumbai, marking a significant milestone in its journey within the Indian retail and hospitality industries.

The company’s evolution in Mumbai began with its first outlet at Horniman Circle, which has since become the first Starbucks Reserve store in India.

Over time, Starbucks has aligned its growth with the city’s dynamic culture, exemplified by experiential locations such as the Dhanraj Mahal store in Colaba, which offers 16 coffee varieties.

Sushant Dash, CEO of TATA Starbucks, emphasized that reaching this milestone was not just an achievement but a celebration of the brand’s strong connection to Mumbai.

He highlighted the city’s energy, diversity, and resilience as key drivers of inspiration for the company’s growth and innovation.

Looking forward, TATA Starbucks aims to continue offering unique coffee experiences while honoring the stories that Mumbai has contributed to its journey.

In recognition of the occasion, Starbucks introduced two beverages inspired by Mumbai’s iconic flavors.

The Bombón Cloud features condensed milk, ristretto shots, and coconut-flavored foam, served in a cortado glass, while the Kala Khatta Cold Brew blends the tangy flavors of Mumbai’s street-side kaala khatta golas with Starbucks’ signature arabica cold brew.

As part of the celebrations, Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, founders of Imagine Foods, collaborated with Starbucks to offer food items inspired by Mumbai’s street culture.

These included the Reverse Vada Pav, which features a spiced vada in a buttery brioche bun with garlic chutney and thecha aioli, Pav Bhaji Pull-Apart, and Kheema Danish, a flaky pastry filled with spicy kheema.

The Deshmukhs expressed that the collaboration allowed them to infuse innovation into the beloved flavors of Mumbai, creating a tribute to the city’s rich culinary heritage.

Additionally, Starbucks unveiled an exclusive merchandise collection, designed in partnership with Indian designer Anamika Khanna.

Inspired by the unique character of Mumbai, the collection will be available in select stores across key locations by the end of the month. TATA Starbucks’ latest milestone reinforces its ongoing commitment to growing its presence in India while celebrating the culture and spirit of Mumbai.
