iCart redefines QSR sector with solar-powered kiosks

NIGERIA – Dalsman Group subsidiary iCart Africa has launched Africa’s first-ever solar-powered mobile kiosks, trailblazing sustainable practices in the sector.

iCart Africa’s solar-powered kiosks present an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and dependable solution for small-scale food businesses, which often face issues with unreliable electricity and limited financial resources.

According to Usman, the kiosks not only tackle power challenges but also promote cleanliness, good cooking practices, and provide essential technological tools to streamline operations, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on expanding their businesses.

The kiosks are equipped with various tools, such as financial management software, AI-based location selection, and digital platforms for online food delivery.

These innovations empower local entrepreneurs to run their businesses efficiently while increasing customer engagement.

iCart Africa, which has built a solid presence in Nigeria, is now preparing to expand into East and Southern Africa.

The company aims to bring its solar-powered kiosks to additional countries across the continent, providing valuable opportunities for food entrepreneurs.

Dalhatu emphasized that each new kiosk represents a chance for individuals to improve their livelihoods.

In an interview with Business Insider, CEO Usman Dalhatu reflected on the company’s journey, explaining that iCart Africa was founded with the goal of empowering food entrepreneurs and revolutionizing the quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector.

He noted that the first prototype was launched three years ago as part of a pilot program, which provided valuable insights and helped shape the company’s approach to delivering value across Africa.

iCart Africa integrates advanced technology to offer both practical and innovative solutions. The digital integration enables smooth food delivery services, and the AI-powered location selection tool assists users in choosing optimal business locations.

The kiosks also feature fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to support the increasing use of electric vehicles in urban and peri-urban regions.

Collaboration is a key factor in iCart Africa’s success. The company works closely with government bodies, international organizations, and community leaders to ensure the scalability and impact of its solutions.

Usman emphasized the importance of partnerships, stating that they create shared value and benefit both entrepreneurs and local communities.

Founded three years ago, iCart Africa has pioneered sustainable solutions that address critical challenges in the food service industry.
