Marriott International plans to expand presence in Türkiye from 59 to 70 hotels in 2025

TÜRKIYE – Multinational hospitality company Marriott International has announced plans to expand its presence in Turkey by increasing the number of its hotels in the country from 59 to 70 by the end of the year.

Marriott International’s expansion in Türkiye is part of its long-term objective to operate 100 properties, solidifying its position as a dominant force in the country’s hospitality industry.

A key component of this growth strategy is Marriott’s focus on luxury and premium accommodations.

The company’s existing portfolio in Türkiye already features esteemed luxury brands such as Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, JW Marriott, and EDITION Hotels.

These brands account for 20% of Marriott’s luxury operations in the country, according to Sandeep Walia, Marriott’s regional operations president.

Rising demand for luxury tourism in Türkiye has driven Marriott to expand its high-end offerings.

These upscale properties cater to affluent travelers seeking distinctive, luxurious experiences in major destinations like Istanbul—renowned for its vibrant culture and history—and Antalya, famous for its Mediterranean coastline and premium resorts.

However, Marriott’s expansion strategy is not limited to the luxury market. Recognizing the growing need for affordable accommodations in Türkiye, especially within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, Marriott is launching the Four Points Flex by Sheraton brand.

This move aims to address the rising demand for mid-range hotels.

The rollout of Four Points Flex by Sheraton will commence in urban centers such as Istanbul, Bursa, and Antalya, with plans for further growth.

This brand will provide high-quality yet affordable lodging, appealing to a diverse clientele, including families, business travelers, and younger tourists.

Marriott has maintained a presence in Türkiye for over 40 years, currently managing 59 properties with more than 8,500 rooms across ten major cities, including Istanbul, Antalya, and Ankara.

This substantial footprint underscores Marriott’s commitment to supporting Türkiye’s expanding tourism and hospitality sectors.

The anticipated growth of Marriott’s portfolio is expected to generate significant economic and social benefits for Türkiye.

The addition of new hotels will create numerous jobs across various industries, from hospitality to construction. Moreover, the increased hotel capacity will stimulate local economies, particularly in tourism-driven cities where Marriott is focusing its expansion efforts.
