GLOBAL – Multinational QSR chain Yum! Brands has promoted Scott Mezvinsky to CEO of its KFC Division, effective March 1, 2025.
Scott Mezvinsky will report directly to Yum! Brands CEO David Gibbs.
He will take over from Sabir Sami, who will step down at the end of February 2025, according to an official statement from the company. Mezvinsky will lead KFC’s global brand strategy and performance.
David Gibbs highlighted Mezvinsky’s extensive experience within Yum! Brands, noting his over 20 years of leadership in operations, strategy, finance, and development.
Gibbs emphasized Mezvinsky’s success in driving impactful results, particularly in his recent role as president of Taco Bell North America and International.
In this position, Mezvinsky implemented Taco Bell’s bold initiatives and ensured top-tier experiences for global restaurant teams and customers. Gibbs stated that Mezvinsky is well-suited to guide KFC’s long-term global growth strategies in collaboration with franchise partners.
Previously, Mezvinsky served as Taco Bell’s global chief strategy and financial officer, contributing significantly to the brand’s progress toward its USD 20 billion target.
Since joining Yum! Brands in 2004, he has held multiple key positions, including general manager of KFC Iberia, where his leadership drove exceptional sales growth and expansion in 2018 and 2019.
Mezvinsky also served as chief development officer and vice president for development and operations in KFC’s Latin America and Caribbean markets.
His educational background includes a BBA in Accounting from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
Mezvinsky expressed honor in leading KFC, recognizing it as an iconic and globally beloved brand. He conveyed enthusiasm for collaborating with dedicated leaders and franchise partners to further strengthen and accelerate the brand’s growth worldwide.
Sabir Sami, who has led KFC Division since January 2022, will continue as CEO until February 2025 to ensure a seamless transition.
Sami joined Yum! Brands in 2009 and has held various leadership roles, including chief operating officer of KFC Division, managing director of KFC Asia, and leadership positions across KFC markets in the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, Turkey, Canada, and Yum! Canada.
