JORDAN – MAG Group Holding, a Dubai-based real estate group, has been chosen as the lead developer for the first phase of Marsa Zayed, a large-scale beachfront resort and residential community on the Red Sea in Aqaba, Jordan.
MAG Group Holding has been appointed as the lead developer by AD Ports Group, an Abu Dhabi-based trade, transport, and logistics entity that owns the land for the project.
AD Ports Group, which developed and operates the Aqaba Cruise Terminal, launched in January 2023 under an agreement with Jordan’s state-owned Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), is playing a key role in advancing Aqaba’s maritime and tourism sectors.
Supported by both the UAE and Jordanian governments, Marsa Zayed is designed to elevate Aqaba’s status as a regional tourism hub.
MAG Holding will spearhead investment attraction and oversee Phase 1 of the development, which covers 1.2 km of Red Sea coastline.
This phase will introduce Zayed Riviera, featuring four residential towers, a marina with approximately 1,260 residential units and 117 retail outlets, a hotel and serviced apartments with a beach club, an Old Souq marketplace with 50 retail shops, the restoration of Aqaba’s historic Minaret, and a yacht club and marina.
A visitor center is also planned to enhance the overall guest experience.
During the project’s launch event in Aqaba, AD Ports Group and MAG Group announced an international promotional campaign for the first phase of Marsa Zayed.
Organizers anticipate the development will become one of the Middle East’s leading tourist destinations.
Further strengthening its strategic expansion in Aqaba, AD Ports Group finalized a shareholders’ agreement in January 2024 between its digital subsidiary, Maqta Technologies, and ADC for their joint venture, Maqta Ayla.
This initiative aims to modernize Aqaba’s port operations through a Port Community System (PCS) that integrates Maqta Gateway’s digital expertise, marking the first deployment of Abu Dhabi’s port digitalization solutions abroad.
AD Ports Group has also expanded its presence in the Red Sea region through long-term concessions to develop and operate cruise terminals at Safaga, Hurghada, Al Sokhna, and Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as a multipurpose port in Safaga and a Ro-Ro terminal in Al Sokhna.
Moafaq Ahmed Al Gaddah, Chairman and Founder of MAG Group Holding, highlighted the project’s significance, stating that it represents one of the most transformative real estate developments in the Red Sea region.
He emphasized its potential to maximize Jordan’s maritime resources while fostering a dynamic coastal economy that supports regional growth.
He also reiterated MAG’s commitment to delivering high-quality services that benefit both customers and local communities.
