INDIA – Greek-based coffeehouse chain Coffee Island has partnered with local franchise start-up Vita Nova to launch its first store at HQ27 in Gurgaon, India.
Coffee Island’s menu will introduce a range of specialty beverages, including Spanish Bombon, Freddo Espresso Ristretto, Vietnamese Shakerato, and select single-origin coffees.
The new store will highlight its in-house roasting process and offer a selection of Global Single Estate Beans, Global Blends, and Home Blends.
The brand’s Indian menu has been curated in collaboration with Sunalini Menon, recognized as ‘Asia’s First Lady of Coffee.’
Coffee Island CEO Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos stated, “We are thrilled to bring the Coffee Island brand to India. The country’s dynamic coffee culture and growing demand for premium experiences create an exciting opportunity for expansion. Partnering with Vita Nova allows us to introduce our globally recognized brand to this market.”
“Our goal is to bridge the gap in India’s café market by fostering a European Coffee Culture, offering the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that have established us as a trusted global name over the past 25 years.”
Coffee Island plans to launch 20 outlets across major metro cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, by March 2026.
The company has set a long-term goal of expanding to 250 locations by 2029.
The food menu, designed by Chef Arjyo Banerjee, will feature sandwiches, toasted melts, pasta dishes, and salads.
Signature items include the Mediterranean Quinoa Bliss Bowl, Peperoncini Spaghetti Aglio Olio, and Roasted Tomato Basil Bocconcini Pide, complemented by desserts such as Banoffee with Nolen Gur and Rocky Road Muffins.
Established in July 2024, Vita Nova is a food and beverage franchise operator, with Coffee Island as its first partner.
Vita Nova Founder Pratyush Kumar Sureka shared that the company is also considering expanding Coffee Island into neighboring South Asian markets, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and the Maldives.
Coffee Island’s entry into India follows Greek coffee chain Mikel Coffee’s recent expansion move.
Mikel Coffee awarded master franchise rights to Greko India, a real estate consultancy firm, with plans to open its first store within the next year.
India marks Mikel Coffee’s first foray into South Asia, with Delhi NCR as the initial launch market, followed by expansion into Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
