Minor Hotels MEA earns Green Growth 2050 Platinum Certification for 30 Properties

MEA – Minor Hotels MEA, a leading hospitality group with a presence in 58 countries, has reinforced its commitment to sustainable hospitality, with 30 of its properties earning the prestigious Green Growth 2050 Platinum certification.

Green Growth 2050 is a globally recognized certification program aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, UN Global Compact, and the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria for Hotels and Tour Operators.

Managed by VisionCSR, it assesses over 400 sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) indicators.

For Minor Hotels, these certifications reaffirm their commitment to integrating sustainability within luxury hospitality, reinforcing transparency and accountability across the industry.

Notable Platinum-Certified Properties

Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort

This resort has pioneered innovative energy and waste reduction strategies while maintaining high standards of luxury and hygiene.

In addition to its Platinum certification from Green Growth 2050, the property has also been awarded Gold certification for The PLEDGE on Food Waste due to its exemplary waste management practices.

NH Collection Dubai The Palm

As the first NH Collection hotel in the Middle East, this property was designed with sustainability at its core.

Within its first year of operation, it achieved Platinum certification by implementing green initiatives such as an on-site water bottling facility and an 84% reduction in staff canteen food waste.

Avani+ Palm View Dubai Hotel & Suites

This property integrates high solar reflective index materials to lower air conditioning energy consumption while championing other foundational sustainability measures.

Its Platinum status underscores its role as a regional leader in eco-friendly hospitality.

Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara

Located in the heart of the Empty Quarter, this resort applies a circular economy approach to minimize environmental impact.

A food waste composter transforms organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, supporting on-site agriculture that supplies fresh produce to the hotel’s kitchens.

Additionally, a solar-powered well and desert-adapted plant research contribute to a sustainable oasis for local wildlife, including sand gazelles and Arabian oryx.

Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts

The three sister resorts—Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Sahel Villa Resort, Al Yamm Villa Resort, and Desert Islands Resort & Spa—combine wildlife conservation with renewable energy solutions.

A wind turbine generating 45 MW and a solar field producing 14.8 MW supply a substantial portion of the island’s energy needs.

Additionally, advanced condensers capture moisture from humid air to provide drinking water for wildlife, demonstrating an innovative approach to sustainability in luxury resorts.

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort

Situated in Oman’s Hajar Mountains, this resort prioritizes water conservation through advanced treatment systems while cultivating daily-use produce on-site.

A chef’s garden, hydroponic farm, olive groves, and beehives supply fresh ingredients for the hotel’s dining facilities. The property also supports local farmers in cultivating damask roses, which are renowned for their high-quality rose water production.

These achievements highlight Minor Hotels MEA’s dedication to integrating sustainability with luxury, ensuring a balance between environmental responsibility and exceptional guest experiences.
