MOROCCO – The Ascott Limited (Ascott), a global hospitality operator and leader in apart-hotels and hotels, has enhanced its expansion across North Africa through new partnerships, openings, and a robust pipeline of upcoming properties in Morocco’s key economic and tourism hubs.
Marking a significant milestone in its Morocco expansion strategy, Ascott has celebrated the opening of Citadines Almaz Casablanca.
The new 61-unit apart-hotel, which caters to both short- and long-stay guests, blends comfort and convenience in Morocco’s bustling commercial capital.
With state-of-the-art amenities including a gym, restaurant, and meeting facilities, Citadines Almaz Casablanca provides a seamless “live, work, and play” experience for modern travelers.
Further strengthening its regional footprint, Ascott has signed an agreement for Citadines Bab Tangier, a 130-unit property scheduled to open in 2027.
Strategically positioned near Tangier International Airport, the Freezone, and the industrial zone, this apart-hotel is set to become a prime choice for both business and leisure travelers.
Tangier’s rapid economic growth, driven by its strategic location on the Strait of Gibraltar and a thriving manufacturing sector, underscores the city’s emerging importance as a key market for Ascott.
Morocco’s tourism sector is booming, with visitor numbers exceeding 17 million in 2024, a 20% increase over the previous year, and projections of 20 million visitors by 2025.
The nation’s co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup is expected to further elevate its global profile, drawing millions of football fans and driving demand for premium accommodations.
Capitalizing on this rapid growth, Ascott’s ongoing investment in Morocco underscores its long-term vision for North Africa.
The company’s Morocco pipeline includes several highly anticipated openings across Casablanca and Marrakech.
Upcoming projects include Citadines Connect Belvedere Casablanca, a 60-unit business hotel near the central business district and historic Medina set to open in Q4 2026.
Another is the Citadines Racine Casablanca, a 123-unit serviced residence located in the heart of the Racine business district, slated for Q3 2025; Ascott Hivernage Marrakech, a 100-unit serviced residence with majestic views of the Atlas Mountains in the prestigious Hivernage district due in Q4 2026.
They also include the Unlimited Collection Marrakech, a 90-room lifestyle hotel in Gueliz offering authentic “RedCity” experiences, also scheduled for Q4 2026.
With six properties totaling over 600 rooms in North Africa, a 30% increase from 2023, Ascott is well-positioned to deliver world-class lodging solutions and support the region’s economic and tourism growth, complementing its portfolio of 40 properties and over 5,800 units in operation and under development across the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.
