MALT Congress 2025 concludes, strengthening Middle East’s luxury travel, MICE sector

MIDDLE EAST – The 13th Meetings Arabia & Luxury Travel (MALT) Congress concluded on February 19-20, 2025, cementing its position as the Middle East’s premier platform for high-level networking, strategic collaborations, and innovation in luxury travel and MICE.

The MALT Congress 2025 brought together a distinguished array of travel and hospitality leaders, including global suppliers, premier travel agencies, corporate travel executives, and luxury concierge providers.

The event featured carefully arranged one-on-one meetings that enabled meaningful business engagements and generated tangible results for all participants.

Stakeholder Insights

Board member Anil Chandirani, Group President of Satguru Travels, observed that the travel landscape has evolved significantly, with more adventurous travelers seeking upgraded and diverse destinations.

He noted that his 35-year-old conglomerate, which also owns the travel portal Travel Wings and has recently acquired Orient Tours and Trav Trips, is witnessing growth across both the economy and luxury segments.

We have already achieved 30% of our revenue target for 2025 in January,” Chandirani remarked, underscoring the strong momentum in the industry despite rising costs.

Industry Trends and Outlook

Mr. Nasir, CEO of Al Naboodah Travel & Tourism Agencies LLC and a longstanding MALT Board member, stressed the vital role networking plays in this fast-recovering market.

Reflecting on 13 years of attendance at such events, he noted that the post-COVID rebound has been swifter than expected, with business volumes now matching those of 2019.

Nasir also highlighted the surge in online bookings in regions like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where Saudi Arabia’s market now enjoys 75% penetration, while emphasizing that personalized support from travel agents remains crucial for managing cancellations and refunds.

He further mentioned a growing trend toward shorter, luxury holidays despite increasing airline and hotel rates, noting that occupancy levels are now at 95%.

He added, “The evolution of MICE and luxury travel in the Middle East is reshaping travel patterns. Modern luxury is less about glitz and more about connecting with nature, embracing sustainability, and finding relaxation.”

The Congress concluded on a high note with an awards ceremony celebrating excellence in the industry. Among the accolades, Mr. Mishal Kanoo received the Lifetime Achievement Award, highlighting the profound impact the travel sector has on enriching lives.
