UK – UK-based restaurant chain Blacklock has announced it is venturing into Birmingham with a brand-new outlet as it seeks to broaden its market footprint.
the new 100-seat venue is set to open in the autumn of 2025 at St Philip’s Place, located on the ground floor of St Philip’s House in Birmingham.
This development marks an exciting expansion for the acclaimed restaurant, which has built its reputation since its humble beginnings in a Soho basement in 2015.
The latest branch is poised to offer an exceptional dining experience that reflects both culinary excellence and a deep respect for local heritage.
A Curated Menu for Every Palate
The menu will feature the innovative ‘All In’ platter, combining beef, pork, and lamb chops served on charred flatbreads and complemented by an assortment of side dishes.
Guests will also be treated to a traditional Sunday roast, which will offer a choice among slow-roasted beef, lamb, or pork prepared over open coals, served with Yorkshire puddings, duck fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and the restaurant’s signature Blacklock gravy.
For dessert, the restaurant will present its famed Granny’s White Chocolate Cheesecake.
The beverage selection will be equally impressive, featuring an array of cocktails, wines, beers, and ciders, alongside the exclusive Blacklock Brews.
Revitalizing a Historic Venue
The decision to locate the restaurant at St Philip’s House was driven by the venue’s rich history and architectural charm, qualities that resonate with the brand’s commitment to quality.
The founder, Gordon Ker, who transitioned from law to culinary entrepreneurship, expressed excitement about restoring one of Birmingham’s most beautiful buildings and integrating the establishment into the local community.
He noted that the city’s dynamic culture and thriving food scene have long made it an ideal home for the brand.
Sustainability and Recognition
The restaurant’s impressive performance has been recognized through numerous accolades, including achieving B Corp certification in 2023 after an 18-month evaluation process.
Ker indicated that the certification journey, which reflects the company’s ethical standards and commitment to benefiting shareholders, workers, customers, and the environment, has been both rigorous and rewarding.
He mentioned that this milestone is just the beginning, as the brand looks forward to sourcing locally from new suppliers in the Midlands and continuing to enhance its menu and service offerings.
