SAUDI ARABIA – To explore a potential retail partnership and craft a unique Diriyah experience featuring a flagship Starbucks store, Diriyah Company’s Group CEO Jerry Inzerillo met with Alshaya Group’s Executive Chairman Mohammed Alshaya, CEO John Hadden, and Starbucks Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol.
Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of Alshaya Group, emphasized that Saudi Arabia is of strategic importance to his company and noted that exploring the introduction of a flagship Starbucks in Diriyah would symbolize strong ties with the Kingdom and support Vision 2030.
Similarly, Brian Niccol, Chairman and CEO of Starbucks, reported that, in partnership with Alshaya Group, they were considering a one-of-a-kind flagship outlet in Diriyah, aiming to merge local cultural elements with the company’s renowned coffee and community values.
Recent international brand additions such as Dolce&Gabbana and Maison Assouline have further bolstered Diriyah’s global appeal.
Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Company, expressed his enthusiasm by indicating that his team was keen on welcoming one of the world’s most iconic brands to what they refer to as “The City of Earth.”
He conveyed that this collaboration marked a significant step toward partnering with global names, thereby further establishing Diriyah as a leading gathering place.
In addition, he mentioned that discussions with Starbucks and Alshaya Group were progressing, with the goal of delivering a distinct retail experience to visitors.
Diriyah, a 14-square-kilometer mixed-use development on Riyadh’s outskirts, is undergoing a transformation into a premier cultural and lifestyle destination.
Anchored by At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated as the birthplace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the ancestral home of House Al Saud, Diriyah artfully combines 300 years of historical legacy with contemporary design, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind experience.
The masterplan for Diriyah spans 566,000 square meters dedicated to lifestyle, retail, and food and beverage offerings. It brings together over 1,000 retail outlets and dining concepts into a cohesive development.
Central to this vision is Diriyah Square, a flagship precinct boasting more than 186,000 square meters of leasable space that hosts over 400 prominent retail brands and dining establishments.
Another major draw is Bujairi Terrace, located adjacent to At-Turaif.
This venue has rapidly evolved into a top dining and lifestyle destination since its opening in 2022, reportedly welcoming in excess of three million visitors.
It offers a carefully curated mix of local, regional, and international restaurants along with boutique retail experiences.
