EGYPT – SPARK, in collaboration with EYouth and supported by Google.org, has unveiled the Maharat for Tourism E-Learning Hub in Egypt, a groundbreaking platform designed to equip 25,000 individuals across MENA with essential tourism industry skills.
The Maharat for Tourism programme is set to redefine the future of the tourism sector by emphasizing green, sustainable practices while empowering individuals.
Designed to support 25,000 job seekers and small business owners across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Tunisia, Lebanon, and the Palestinian territories, the initiative offers specialized training in artificial intelligence, essential soft skills, and advanced digital tools.
In addition, the programme collaborates closely with governments to refine regulatory frameworks for tourism, ensuring an environment that is both supportive and forward-looking for industry growth.
The platform offers courses for policymakers focused on government tourism strategies and policies, as well as targeted training for small business owners managing SMEs within the tourism sector.
Additional modules cover experiential tourism operations, event planning, and design, all aimed at equipping job seekers with the practical skills necessary to excel in today’s competitive market.
A Comprehensive Training Initiative
Scheduled to run until the end of 2025, the programme will feature an array of workshops, events, and meetups across multiple Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Qatar.
The launch event, hosted at the Triumph Plaza Hotel in Cairo, reportedly attracted over 100 stakeholders, ranging from representatives of Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism to industry leaders and digital learning experts.
This initiative is fully aligned with Egypt’s national priorities to enhance workforce competitiveness and drive sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
Strategic Partnership and Industry Support
Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism has been a strong supporter of the platform, recognizing its potential to modernize workforce training and bolster long-term industry sustainability.
SPARK’s Regional Programme Director, Dina Almasaeid, expressed pride in launching the Maharat for Tourism E-Learning Hub, emphasizing that it would provide thousands with the essential skills to advance their careers in tourism.
This strategic collaboration not only bridges the skills gap but also contributes directly to Egypt’s economic resilience and job creation in one of its most vital industries.
