QATAR/SOUTH AFRICA – Qatar Airways is expanding its Middle East-Southern Africa connectivity by increasing flight frequencies between Doha, Maputo, and Durban.
Qatar Airways is set to enhance connectivity between the Middle East and Southern Africa by increasing flight frequencies on its route linking Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH), Maputo International Airport (MPM) in Mozambique, and Durban’s King Shaka International Airport (DUR) in South Africa.
Starting June 3, 2025, the airline will upgrade its current five-times-weekly service to a daily schedule, offering travelers greater flexibility and seamless access between these destinations.
This expansion aligns with Qatar Airways’ broader strategy to strengthen its global network and meet the increasing demand for travel.
By adding more flights on this route, the airline aims to provide convenient travel options for both leisure and business passengers moving between Qatar, Mozambique, and South Africa.
Additionally, daily flights will improve connectivity for those transiting through Doha, one of the world’s leading aviation hubs, enabling smoother access to over 170 international destinations.
The route, which includes a stopover in Maputo, has been a key link between the Middle East and Southern Africa. Increasing flight frequency will enhance accessibility and support growing tourism and trade ties.
Durban, with its picturesque coastline, dynamic culture, and strong business sector, remains an attractive destination for international visitors, while Maputo serves as a crucial gateway to Mozambique’s diverse natural and cultural attractions.
For African travel agents, this development presents an opportunity to offer clients more flexible travel options.
The daily service caters to the increasing demand for seamless connections, particularly for travelers looking to explore multiple destinations within Southern Africa or connect to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network via Doha.
The enhanced schedule is expected to attract both leisure and business travelers, further stimulating regional tourism and economic activity.
Qatar Airways’ commitment to expanding services in Africa reflects its reputation as a leading global airline.
Known for its award-winning service and modern fleet, the airline continues investing in routes that link emerging markets with the rest of the world.
The introduction of daily flights to Durban and Maputo will reinforce Qatar Airways’ status as a preferred carrier for travelers seeking reliable and efficient connections to and from Africa.
Travelers are encouraged to book early, as the new daily service is expected to be in high demand among regional and international passengers.
With this latest expansion, Qatar Airways continues demonstrating its dedication to enhancing global connectivity and supporting the growth of key travel markets.
For African tourism stakeholders, the increased flight frequency presents a chance to attract more visitors to Durban and Mozambique, highlighting the region’s distinct attractions and fostering stronger ties with the Middle East and beyond.
This move underscores the importance of strategic airline partnerships in driving tourism and economic growth across the continent.
